Our Story

Welcome to Deliceoso, your resource for creative, zero-waste, family-inspired sourdough discard baking!
I’m Ashly Martin, founder and editorial director, and I’m delighted you’re here. Deliceoso is much more than a recipe blog it’s the real extension of a lifelong passion for transforming simple, leftover ingredients into plentiful, nourishing breads, breakfasts, and desserts.
Raised in Austin, Texas, I’ve spent my life between the comforting smells of my aunt’s kitchen and the ritual of nurturing a living sourdough starter. From the age of seven, in the protective arms of my aunt after my parents’ divorce, I discovered the power of homemade food, garden-fresh produce, and more than anything the magic of sourdough discard. Where others saw waste, she saw possibility. Our “zero-waste” baking was an everyday act long before it was a movement.

Thanks to her, I learned to turn every bit of sourdough discard into pancakes, muffins, cookies, and family treats that both respected our resources and delighted us with new flavors. This “upcycling” kitchen spirit still shapes everything I do, and inspires every recipe I meticulously test, simplify, and share here.

After years working in travel, my dream was to bring the world to my kitchen – and then to yours. Through neighborhood tastings, then our family’s little restaurant, I realized there was a genuine need for family-friendly, make-ahead, allergy-conscious recipes that made real life easier and food waste a thing of the past.

Deliceoso is my answer: a place where home bakers of all backgrounds can discover that their sourdough discard isn’t just “leftover starter” but a resource for making every week easier, more delicious, and more sustainable.
